Our Heritage, Your Table

Royal Beef was founded in 1985 by Paul and Carmen Estrela, who built a butcher shop rooted in family, food, and craftsmanship. The name was inspired by Paul’s record setting butchery skills at the Royal Winter Fair, a true nod to his expertise and pride in the craft.

 

What began as a 300 square foot shop has grown into a beloved neighbourhood staple on Danforth Avenue. From day one, Paul and Carmen’s dedication to quality and genuine customer care set them apart. Paul was a master butcher and mentor. Carmen curated the deli with warmth and intention. Together, they built more than a store. They built a community.

 

Today, their legacy lives on through a passionate team and the next generation of the Estrela family. We remain guided by the same values. Exceptional quality, respect for the craft, and deep roots in our neighbourhood.

THE BLOCK

At Royal Beef, butchery is not just a trade. It is a craft passed down through decades of hands on experience, respect for the animal, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way.

 

We source carefully and work with trusted Canadian and Ontario farms. Using whole animal butchery, we break every cut in house, allowing us to honour the entire animal, reduce waste, and maintain complete control over quality.

 

From how we cut and grind to how we prepare and serve, every decision is intentional. This is traditional butchery, practiced with skill, care, and pride.

THE BUTCHER'S SELECTIONS

Our In House Standards

The Butcher’s Selections are the cuts and creations that showcase our craft at the counter. These are butcher prepared items selected and made in house, from premium steaks and roasts to marinated, seasoned, and value added offerings designed to make cooking easier without compromising quality.

We prepare our meats fresh in house every day. Our counter features house made classics like signature meatballs, pork ragù blend, and RB Classic Burgers, alongside seasonal features crafted and rotated throughout the year. You will also find specialty butcher cuts such as Denver, Merlot, and Spider steaks, distinctive selections not commonly available elsewhere.

Each product is developed with intention, tested and refined, then made in small batches to ensure the flavour, quality, and consistency our customers trust.

Our Everyday Provisions are curated with the same care as our meat.

 

We carry a tight, ever-evolving selection of pantry staples, specialty goods, and local favourites, products we use ourselves, stand behind, and proudly recommend.

 

You won’t find endless options. You’ll find thoughtful ones. "Our Very Own" Royal Beef products, like our fan favourites from the deli roast beef and turkey, and our cult classic potato salad, tourtiere and lasagna. Each made in house with the passion and skills we’ve built over more than 40 years.
